Cheetah Mobile's Security Master Receives Perfect Score in Latest AV-TEST Evaluation

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Cheetah Mobile Inc. (NYSE: CMCM), the leading developer of mission-critical mobile utility and security applications, today announced that its flagship privacy protection and antivirus app Security Master (formerly CM Security) has earned a perfect score in the latest evaluation by AV-TEST, a leading independent international IT-security institute.

Throughout September 2017, AV-TEST evaluated 21 mobile security products for Android using their default settings. Security Master scored a perfect 6/6 in the Protection category for its ability to protect against malicious malware attacks. The app also scored a perfect 6/6 in the Usability category, which evaluates the impact of the security software on the usability of the device.

For the Protection evaluation, Security Master was tested on its ability to detect 3,016 of the latest Android malware in real time and 2,917 of the latest Android malware discovered in the last 4 weeks. Security Master detected 100% of threats, beating the industry average in both tests.

For the Usability evaluation, AV-TEST confirmed that Security Master does not impact battery life, the app does not slow down the device during normal usage, and the app does not generate too much traffic. The test also showed that Security Master did not generate any false warnings during installation and usage of legitimate apps or software from the Google Play Store.

The AV-TEST Institute is an independent research institute that provides comparative tests and reviews for antivirus software, antimalware tools, and security software for Windows, Mac, and Android.
